I just want a simple credit card where I can build my credit up? What is the best one?|||A law went into effect last year making it very difficult for those under 21 to obtain credit cards. There are two conditions where you might be approved for a credit card: (a) you are working basically full-time and earning a regular salary, or (b) a parent is willing to co-sign for you, assuming responsibility if you don't pay off your credit card debt. If neither of these apply, you will almost certainly be rejected for a card--sorry for the bad news.
If you are working basically full-time, you can apply, but there's no guarantee you'll be approved for a card, since you don't have much of a credit history yet.|||You don't need a credit card. Build credit buy getting some kind of bill in your name (cell phone), or make a large purchase at a store. Credit cards are bad news. Especially for someone so young. Trust me, you don't need or want one. The only reason you ever use one is for renting a car and you are too young for that anyways. (gotta be 25, unless insurance deal)|||Get a checking account with a major bank like Wells Fargo. Start using it....deposit money and use it. Then apply for their credit card. Apply for their Student Credit card IF you are a student in a High School or College...
Also Citibank is good with student credit cards.
Good luck
